At Statistics class today, I became a temporary lecturer :D
The class begins with me giving a tazkirah. Every beginning of this class, a student has to go up front and give a tazkirah. Today wasn't supposed to be my turn but since the person who has to give the tazkirah was absent, so i have to give the tazkirah since im next on the list. I gave a short tazkirah about giving advice to friends.
Then, madam returned back our quiz paper. Alhamdulillah i got 20/20 again for the 2nd time in a row. The quiz was about the chapter Poisson and Normal Probability Distribution. Madam was so happy with my result that she spontaneously asked me to become the lecturer to discuss about the quiz to the whole class! Usually after every quiz she will be the one who will go through and discuss each of the questions to the whole class.
So i stood up and grabbed the marker and start writing on the board the soultions for question 1, 2, 3 etc.. As i explained through each solution, I asked my classmates if they understand what i'm doing. Some nodded, some kept silent, none said yes. Madam interrupted at some of the questions to ask my classmates if they really understand what i'm doing or not. Maybe i was going too fast? So i moved on until the end of the quiz.
Well that's a new experience for me. I usually tutor 1 or 2 students a time only. I also did tutoring 3 students at once but i think that already is too much to handle for me. I guess i'm not good at teaching a group of people.
Anyway I enjoyed being a lecturer for a half an hour :)
Its impossible for campus boys to wake up at 5 in the morning!! So u know what my dormies and I always do? Every 1-2am, we go downstairs and go to our favourite restaurant 'Kawah Thai' and order Nasi Bujang. Thats our sahur :) This is our routine since the beginning of Ramadhan until now.
I know its sunnah to do sahur but what to do?? Our bedtime everyday is at around 2-4am, so basically waking up at 5 am is really incomprehensible for lazy campus boys like us!
Yesterday, some of the Peers club members and I went to Giant to do some shopping for our bazaar next week. We got there by Mujahid's car. I drive as usual..
When we arrived there, the girls do the most of the shopping, of course. We, four guys don't know what to do. Then Hairul suggested to try out the Cute Fish Spa. There's like a small pool filled with small fishes at the corner of the Giant main area. It is said that those fishes can cleanse our foot by eating the dead skins. Here's a picture of the banner.
I've seen this before at Carrefour, Wangsa Maju a long time ago, but never gave it a try yet. So yesterday i tried it for the very first time. Its RM 5 for 10 mins. I paid RM 10 for both me and Nazmi. He said he don't wanna try it unless i blanja him -.-
So i sat on one of the chairs there and gently lowered my foot into the pool. And OMG! A LOT OF FISH CAME TO MY FOOT AND BIT ME! It was so ticklish! I felt like giving up! It feels like there are thousands of tiny fingers poking u're foot at a rate of 50 pokes per second! I think i can also say that it feels like there is a small electric current flowing through u're foot. But it doesn't hurt. Not at all.
I don't know why but it seems like my foot attracts more fishes than Nazmi's! Is my foot that dirty?? Look at it.
The fishes are everywhere at my foot, especially the toes, they even eat the areas between my toes! Thats the most ticklish part! Some even eat my betis' skin. After like 3 mins, I got used to the ticklish feeling. The feeling doesn't bother me anymore. So we continued until 10 mins.. I wanted to stay there longer! Because i don't know why its kinda fun! I thought that the attendant didn't realize the time but actually she did -.- She gave us a sheet of kitchen roll tissues.
This is a new experience for me and I really enjoyed it. I can see the effect on my foot. It became brighter and some of the dead skins were removed. I foot also feels more fresh! U guys should try it! :D
Here are some more pics of the guys who were there.
Hairul (Peers) and Mat Nor (Peers)
Me (ADC) and Hairul (Peers)
Nazmi (neither -.-) menyibuk jer gi Giant
Its the fasting month everyone! And the first day has been stressful -.- Just when i thought i can be relieved just for one day after the Arabic Demo has finished..
I woke up at 5.06 am. Azhan woke me up. He's my school friend from Adni, taking Computer Science in PJ campus. He visited us yesterday here at Nilai and stayed for one night. Mujahid and I have to send him back to his campus right after sahur because he has morning class.. So i was planning to just have a drink from the water cooler for my sahur, but then one of my dormate offered me a piece a toast and honey and i happily accepted his offer! Thanks Faisal!
Then the three of us, Mujahid, Azhan and I went to mujahid's car and i drove it off to pj campus. I drove quite fast :D Reached PJ in less than half an hour. Parked at the campus's masjid parking area. And managed to join the solat subuh jamaah at the 2nd rakaat. Then I drove the car again back to PJ.. Mujahid slept on the way. Arrived at Nilai exactly at 7. My first class starts at 9 so i figured to take a short nap at dorm.. Mujahid contined sleeping in the car while i sleep at the dorm. He has class at 8.
Oh yeah here's some pics of us at the PJ campus masjid.
After that, surprisingly i was woken up by mujahid. I looked up my phone and it says 9.04 am. And i was like HOLY?? Statistics class was at 9 and we're gonna have a quiz AND an assignment today! I didn't bother to take a bath. Grabbed a piece of shirt and as i was putting on my belt, i realized that the metal end of the belt (the thing that ties up the belt) was missing! And i was like HOLY????? So i just threw the belt on my bed and rushed through the study room, packed up my books in my bag. And zoomed downstairs.
As I was walking to the class's block, dengan seluar londeh -.-, I remembered that it was Wednesday. All boys are compulsory to wear a plain shirt with tie on every wednesday. I was wearing a checkered shirt with no tie and not tucked-in -.- I was closing in to the block i saw that a Pak Guard is in front of the gate watching closely to every student who walks past the gate to see if there is any problem with their uniform. And i told myself can today get any worse? So i approached the gate slowly and i don't know why the guard just let me through BUT THEN SUDDENLY, there is a Mak Guard in front of me. I was shocked like HOLY but then she just asked me to tuck my shirt in. So i tucked in my shirt and then climbed the stairs to the 2nd floor and Alhamdulillah the quiz hasn't started yet and madam didn't ask me any questions regarding my tardiness.
The class went on as usual. Then accounting at 11 am till noon. Went straight back to dorm and i took a bath, prayed and then slept all the way till 4.30pm. Btw i only slept like 3 hours last night thats why i felt so damn tired today. Oh yeah and driving is tiring -.- But Fun!
I had a meeting with the club at 5pm. We collaborated with PEERS club to organise a Bazaar Ramadhan that is gonna be held next week. We discussed about what food and drinks we are going to sell and such. We rented half a tent. Yes HALF a tent for the bazaar. There are still things i'm worrying about like, if we have enough time to ask from the members of our club to contribute at least RM 5 per person. Because its the only source of capital. The event is only a few days from now but we still have RM 0 capital! We're going to have another meeting tomorrow to discuss more about this.
The meeting ended at 6.30 pm. Me and Muqlis (VP of the club) walked back to our dorm. We went passed through a bazaar that people from outside has set up. The bazaar was congested by humans! My mood to spend and buy some food to break my fast suddenly disappears. There were so many people and students that i can barely see what the stalls are selling. So we just went back to our dorm. Then i invited to mujahid to just buy some nasi campur from the shops downstairs.
We went down, bought a pack of food and drink and went back up. We broke our fast with a couple of roomates together in a circle. Feels nice to eat together with roomates. Sharing dates and such. We don't do this everyday if its not for Ramadhan. We prayed Maghrib at dorm together and then at 8.30 we walked to the Masjid for Isya' and Tarawih prayer. They do 20 rakaats of Tarawih there. We just leave after 8. It doesn't take that long. The imam recites quite fast and the ayah is not that long. I'm fine with that :)
Went back at dorm and here i am. On the bed writing this blog. I still gotta study tonight for ISM quiz tomorrow -.- Oh well. Another 3 hour sleep tonight i guess.
Ok that's all for now. Hopefully all of us can benefit a lot from Ramadhan this year. Amin.
Alhamdulillah! I feel so relieved that the Arabic Debate Demonstration is over. It went on smoothly and with not so much difficulties alhamdulilllah. This program has been haunting me and making me worried for the past few weeks! Its because this is the first program whereby the club is organising completely by themselves. Who knew organising just a small program like this requires a LOT of work. Let me list down the step-by-step procedure on how to organise a program.
First of all. We have to create a working paper (proposal) of the program. Its just basically a few sheets of paper that briefly describe whats the whole program is all about. Date, time, venue, no. of participants, budget needed, etc. BUT there are also a few formats that we have to abide. For example, in some cases the font size must not be too big.. not too small.. no grammatical errors.. and the whole thing has to be written in a formal language. This is because after we have done the working paper, we have to submit it to the Deputy Dean of Leadership and Student Activities Department (LSTAD) for approval. By right we're supposed to submit it 3 weeks before the actual time of the event, but in some cases like our debate demo program is just a small program and we don't need any budget for the program, they accepted our proposal even a week before the actual event.
Then, while waiting for our working paper to be approved. We have to form an organising committee for the program. The organising committee consists of the Programme Director, Assistant Director, Treasurer, Secretary and Bureaus like the Bureau for Publicity, Mulitmedia and Technicals and many more bureaus. The number of bureaus needed depends on the nature and scale of the event.
When our proposal is approved (we will receive a reply slip from LSTAD), there are more things to do! First, we have to go the the Administration & Services Unit to do the booking of Venue and also props like PA system, mic, tables, chairs, etc. And then the Publicity Bureau will have to create and post up Posters in the campus to promote and create awareness to the students that we're having this event at this time, date, venue etc. The posters have to readable and understandable by the students and most importantly the design of the poster has to be attractive and eye-candy 8D so that it can attract a lot of attention. Location too have to be strategic! I think its better to post them on the walls at the staircase rather than on notice boards because MAJORITY of students DON'T reads notice boards! Yes i have to admit neither i read notice boards -.- If our event requires a budget then we will have to get the cheque from the Finance Department. If there is a need to do a rehearsal for the event, it needs to be held a day before the actual event.
Now during the actual day of the event, the organising committee have to arrive at the venue at least one hour before the event begins. This is to ensure that everything is in place and to avoid difficulties during the on-going of the program. During the event itself, the organising committee needs to make sure that the event goes on smoothly. If any VIPs or VVIPs are invited, we must honour them and make sure that they feel that they are honoured.
After the event has ended, the organising committee has to stay back for a while at the venue to clean up the place and ensure that the venue is how as it was when they first entered it. So don't leave anything behind. The secretary also has to produce a Report of the event and also the Financial Report of the event. Any balance from the budget received has to be returned to the Finance Department :( Posters that are pasted have to be taken down not more than a week after the actual event. We might get compounded if we just leave the posters there :O
So thats it. The procedure of organising an event or a program. I think it is a really tedious and a troublesome work for lazy people like me -.- But what to do right? These are protocols. I might even missed some parts or maybe there's some additional steps to the procedure. Like if we want to seek sponsorship from organisations outside the campus. Then there is more work to it.
Organising the Arabic Debate Demonstration taught me a lot actually. We must not look down at the activities or events being held by anone anywhere we go. Because whenever there is an event, there are the people who organises them. And those people have to undergo a lot of hardship to organise the event. So if they need you to be the participants or audience to make their event a success, then you should help them by getting involved with their event.
I also believe that we will also be rewarded by Allah if we get involved in these events because we are helping our brothers and sisters in making their events a success. Especially here inside IIUM campus. Most of the events being held here are beneficial for the students. So that is more the reason why we should join in and get involved with the events.
Everyone has felt this feeling. The feeling that disturbs the peace of our mind. Worry. I HATE that feeling SO MUCH!
That feeling just hit me a while ago. I was having fun at home. Just resting, playing games with my bro. Suddenly my mind just think forward, what's gonna happen next week.
Hmm.. Talking about academics.. I still gotta sit for 2 more midterm exams.. FIM and Arabic.. Got to revise on FIM and memorise some ayahs.. Got to read up a bit on the Arabic textbook for some vocabularies..
Other stuff like being the president of the arabic debate club.. The club got to hold a debate demonstration next next monday.. I still got to send the proposal.. Book the venue.. I got to be one of the debaters.. The content is not prepared yet..
The feeling spoils the mood. It turns smiles to frowns.
I wish that feeling never exists. If i have the opportunity to throw away one of my feelings, i would throw away "Worry".
